No User Accounts: You can use all features of Bus Beacon without registering, creating an account, or logging in.
No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Mixpanel) to track your in-app activity or usage patterns.
2. Device Permissions
To provide core functionality, Bus Beacon requests permission to access certain features on your device:
Why it's needed: We request access to your device's location solely to show you nearby bus stops, MRT stations, taxi stands, car parks, and EV charging stations relative to where you are.
How it's handled: Your precise location is processed locally on your device in real-time to query nearby transport data. Your location data is never transmitted to our servers, stored on disk, or shared with any third party.
3. Third-Party APIs & External Data Services
Bus Beacon fetches real-time public transit, traffic, weather, and parking information from official public APIs in Singapore, including:
Land Transport Authority (LTA) DataMall (Bus timings, crowd levels, traffic incidents, traffic cameras, car park availability, MRT status, EV charging)
National Environment Agency (NEA) (Live weather forecasts)
When the app fetches real-time updates from these services, standard network requests are made directly from your device to the respective provider API endpoints. These requests do not contain any personal identifiers.
4. Local Storage
To make the app fast and offline-friendly, Bus Beacon saves certain settings directly on your device using local storage:
Your saved favourite bus stops and custom labels.
App settings (such as dark mode preferences).
This data remains strictly on your physical device. Uninstalling the app removes all locally saved preferences.
5. Advertising and Monetization
Bus Beacon is 100% ad-free. We do not integrate any ad networks, advertising SDKs, or promotional tracking code.
6. Children's Privacy
Bus Beacon does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
